Why a precise role description matters in international hiring

A familiar title can conceal very different responsibilities, seniority and qualification requirements.

Describe the work, not the ambition

A useful role description states the department, reporting line, core duties, decision level, working location and qualifications relevant to the work. It should correspond with the contract and the employer’s supporting forms.

Avoid expanding the description with fashionable language that does not reflect the job. Authorities and onboarding teams need consistent facts, while a candidate needs an honest picture of the day-to-day role.

Check consistency early

Place the offer, contract, vacancy text and final role description side by side. Mark differences in title, location, hours or seniority and ask HR which version is current. Resolving those points before an appointment is usually simpler than explaining conflicting documents later.
