What to ask your German employer for before a Blue Card appointment
Turn a long authority checklist into a short, specific conversation with your hiring contact.
Begin with the employment facts
Your contract should identify the legal employer, position, start date, working location, hours and gross compensation. Compare those details with the role description and any form completed by HR. A small mismatch in title or start date can create avoidable questions.
Ask who will provide the employer declaration required for your route and when it can be signed. If the job includes variable compensation, do not assume every component is treated in the same way; request a clear breakdown and check the current official criteria.
Make the request easy to answer
Send HR a numbered list. State the appointment or submission date, attach only the relevant authority link, and identify any field you cannot complete yourself. Ask for a named contact who can respond if the authority needs clarification.
Keep a final PDF of each document and note its issue date. Requirements differ by authority and circumstances, so the official checklist for your place of residence remains the controlling source.
